Johnny Depp's neighbour, who is a long-time friend, testified that Depp's ex-wife, Amber Heard had said the actor hit her and threw her a phone and beat her up at her home in the Los Angeles penthouse where the couple lived. Isaac Baruch testified that Heard did not suffer abuse from Depp at all, whether they had met in the hallway of the art deco building or the lobby day after. Baruch was the second witness asked to testify during Depp's trial in relation to Heard's false depiction of him as a victim. Depp says that an article Heard wrote in The Washington Post for 2018 defamed his character. Heard is quoted in the piece as being a "public figure representing domestic abuse." The article doesn't mention Depp. His attorneys claim that the piece clearly mentioned a restraining-order that Heard demanded in May 2016 shortly after Depp told her He was seeking divorce.
