Jennifer Garner is a West Virginia native who was born in Houston on the 17th April in 1972. William John Garner is her father. He was a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. The mother of her Patricia Ann taught at a local college. To follow in the footsteps of her father she earned a degree in chemical engineering. In order to pursue her dream of acting and pursue her acting career, she decided to relocate to New York and try her acting career in the world of acting in Hollywood. In addition to appearing on Broadway shows, she was employed as a waitress. Her former husband Scott Foley met her on the television show "Felicity," where she appeared as a character. Garner made her mark in her romantic comedic film "13 going on thirty" where she played a teenager trapped in a 30 year-old's body. Garner decided to choose Gary Winick to direct the film; they continued to look for other projects together until his death in 2011. Garner, who was designated as an artist ambassador by Save the Children U.S.A. for 2009, played a key role in the group. Alongside encouraging the importance of early education, literacy as well as nutrition at a national level, Garner's role also includes promotion of the literacy of all Americans. Garner has been a member of the board for the non-profit group since the year 2014. She is a proponent of early childhood education. Garner has visited many families as part of Early Steps to School Success the program created for parents to learn how they can support their children's education - acting as an ambassador.
