Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci was born on December 12, 1961 within Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast. She holds the record for being awarded 10/10 marks in an Olympic event. Bela Karrolyi is the Romanian gymnastics teacher who later became Comaneci's coach who first came across Comaneci aged six. Comaneci was the first to compete for time at the national junior championships, placing 13th. In the following year, she won the title of champion. The first time she competed in an international event in an preolympics junior event that was open to countries of the communist bloc, she took home three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1975, she won crowned all-around Junior Champion. In 1975 she was awarded 4 gold and 1 silver at her first senior international contest. Lyudmila Torishcheva was a five-time European Champion. She won the American Cup in New York City in 1976 becoming the first female to do the backward double salto in dismounting from the uneven bars that are parallel. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Her path into the world of entertainment began in her teens when she began skating figure with her younger sibling Nina Wayne as part of the touring entertainment show known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6 1942 at Chicago Illinois US. Carol began her career in entertainment in her teens. Her first professional gig was figure skating along with Nina Wayne, her younger sister as part of traveling entertainment programs Ice Capades. Ice Capades showcased performances of skaters ice skating with actors.
